| Impact Brinell Testers: | ||
| An Impact Tester is one where you hit the Instrument with a hammer (Usually a Brass Hammer, 3LB) and compare the impression on the material under test and the test bar of a known hardness. | ||
| Generally you can take 64 readings with a Brinell Test Bar before it has to be replaced with a new one. The exception to this is the Calibrated Pin Tester which breaks a calibrated shear pin when you hit it with the hammer and using the chart supplied with the pins measure the reading on the piece under test.
